| Reiki
(pronounced ray-key) is a Japanese word
representing universal life energy, the energy
which is all around us. It is derived from rei,
meaning "free passage" or
"transcendental spirit" and ki, meaning
"vital life force energy" or "
universal life energy". Reiki
is a Japanese form of healing that is becoming
increasingly popular worldwide. What makes Reiki
unique is that it incorporates elements of just
about every other alternative healing practice
such as spiritual healing, auras, crystals,
chakra balancing, meditation, aromatherapy,
naturopathy, and homeopathy.
Reiki involves the transfer of energy from
practitioner to patient to enhance the body's
natural ability to heal itself through the
balancing of energy. Reiki utilizes specific
techniques for restoring and balancing the
natural life force energy within the body. It is
a holistic, natural, hands-on energy healing
system that touches on all levels: body, mind,
and spirit.
Reiki Principles
Just for today, I will
let go of anger
Just for today, I will let go of worry
Today, I will count my many blessings
Today, I will do my work honestly
Today, I will be kind to every living creature

| What
Is Reiki? |
| Reiki
practitioners channel energy in a particular
pattern to heal and harmonize. Reiki is an
amazing energy that comes from the highest
spiritual source. It has its own intelligence and
knows exactly where to go and what to do. It is
multi-dimensional and will heal the cause of a
problem on whatever level it may exist - body,
mind, or spirit. It does not have to be directed
by the practitioner. Because it is a channeled
healing, the Reiki practitioner's energies are
never depleted. In fact, when giving a treatment,
the Reiki practitioner is healed as well and
always experiences an increase in life-force
energy.
Reiki
is not a religion or religious cult. It has no
dogma or specific doctrine of beliefs. It does
not require faith, so is not akin to
"laying-on-of-hands". Reiki works
whether you or the recipient believe in it or
not.
Reiki
is not channeling (the practitioner is like a
funnel), a form of mind control or hypnosis; is
not based on imagination, wishful thinking or
visualization and is not dependent upon a certain
state of mind. It is not necessary to be in a
meditative state to effectively do Reiki.
Reiki
does not involve E.S.P. or unusual psychic
phenomenon; is not a form of psychic healing or
psychic surgery and is not a massage technique.
Reiki
is not difficult to use or limited to a select
few people. It is not just for when one is ill or
used simply to reduce pain and symptoms. Reiki
wholes the body, bringing it into sync with the
Divine rhythm of the Universe. Everyone can
learn, use and benefit from daily use of Reiki.

energy, and increases the vibrational frequency
of the body.

| History
of Reiki |
Reiki
is believed to have begun in Tibet several
thousand years ago. Seers in the Orient studied
energies and developed a system of sounds and
symbols for universal healing energies. Various
healing systems, which crossed many different
cultures, emerged from this single root system.
Unfortunately, the original source itself was
forgotten.
Dr. Mikao Usui, rediscovered the root system in
the mid- to late 1800s. He began an extensive
twenty-one-year study of the healing phenomena of
history's greatest spiritual leaders. He also
studied ancient sutras (Buddhist teachings
written in Sanskrit). He discovered ancient
sounds and symbols that are linked directly to
the human body and nervous system which activate
the universal life energy for healing.
Usui then underwent a metaphysical experience and
became empowered to use these sounds and symbols
to heal. He called this form of healing Reiki and
taught it throughout Japan until his death around
1893.
The tradition was passed through several
grandmasters of reiki such as Dr. Chujiro Hyashi,
Hawayo Takata, and Phyllis Lei Furumoto.
There are many forms of reiki being practiced
now.
The Usui System of Natural Healing balances and
strengthens the body's energy, promoting its
ability to heal itself.
Reiki is useful in treating serious illnesses as
well as others. Examples are: sports injuries,
cuts, burns, internal diseases, emotional
disorders, and stress-related illnesses.
Reiki was introduced to the Western world in the
mid-1970s. Since then its use has spread
dramatically worldwide. |

Reiki
energy is regarded as life energy at its most
effective-with the maximum vibration
Those who use reiki regularly often find they are
more joyful, lively and their own in-built energy
is enhanced-almost as if their batteries had been
fully charged! Existing conflicts within the
person are broken down and there is a greater
vitality, leading to relaxation and a stimulation
of the body. As this improvement develops, the
natural processes of renewal and removal of
toxins are enhanced and rendered more effective,
ultimately opening up more of the body to the
life energy.

What are the
reiki attunements or Initiations?
Just
like you have to tune into a frequency to receive
a radio or tv channel, reiki attunements are a
way of tuning into the channel of reiki energy.
It is believed that reiki energy is there all
around us, but you can access this energy only
after you are attuned to receive it. Reiki
attunements allows you to become a reiki
practitioner.
Attunement
process involves opening up the chakra's in you,
so that you become a 'channel' to receive and
transmit reiki. Reiki attunements are carried out
by a reiki master/teacher who himself/herself has
already received attunements from another reiki
master/teacher.
The
attunement process is a kind of ceremony. The
master/teacher invokes certain reiki symbols and
draws these symbols on the aura of the recepient
in a certain way. Once drawn, these symbols
remain on the aura of the receiver forever,
making the receiver a 'channel' of reiki energy
for entire lifetime.

Through
a series of attunements, part of the initiation
process for new Reiki practitioners, a Reiki
master employs the ancient sounds and symbols
that attune an individual's nervous system to a
higher level of energy. A level is reached in
which the students , neither highly trained nor
especially gifted, can experience more energy
flowing through their hands, giving them the
power to heal themselves and others.
Reiki is taught in three
degrees; First
Degree(Shoden); The
participant receives powerful and sacred First
Degree activating attunement or initiation to the
Reiki energy by the Reiki master. This
permanently guides the person to greater healing
power. The student learns how to do full body
treatments on self and family, friends, plants,
animals, food and water. The benefits of using
Reiki in a group are discussed and an actual
group treatment is experienced.
Second Degree(Okuden); The
participant receives a powerful, sacred Second
Degree initiation, which attunes you to dynamic,
multi-dimensional energy keys or symbols. These
sacred symbols allow you to access many different
levels or dimensions of energy. A discussion of
the symbols and their origins as well as their
precise usage is given. Specific techniques of
absentee healing, personal transformation and
healing mental/emotional disorders are also
presented.
Third Degree(Shinpiden);
The participant receives third-level empowerment
and the ' final symbol'. It is taught mainly for
personal growth. A person who has completed the
third level is able to give the Level I Reiki
attunement. This is for personal growth,
transformation and increased enlightenment. It is
available to those students who have been
continuously working with Second Degree Reiki for
a minimum of 3 months. The participant will learn
how to do attunements which open the recipient to
receive greater amounts of Reiki energy. These
attunements are not initiatory, but are designed
to help access more energy when giving hands-on
or absentee treatments. The participant will also
learn how to make a Energy Grid which brings in
more light and love to the planet and sends
continuous Reiki treatments as well as a
procedure to remove particularly difficult energy
blocks.
Master/Teacher
Level is for those
students who wish to teach Reiki. It is necessary
that a minimum of a year of continuous use of
Reiki and a prerequisite of Third Degree for
Personal Mastery be completed before applying for
the Master/Teacher level. This level requires a
deep commitment to the integrity of the system
and the integration of Reiki as a lifestyle. It
gives you the complete science for activating
First, Second, Third and Master/ Teacher degrees
(including complete teaching notes for each
degree). It contains advanced techniques in
energy activation, balance, direction and
modulation for healing. It is not just a step up
in energy, it is a way of being. The
Master/Teacher level is available only upon
request and interview.

| Who
Does It? |
| Practitioners
study with reiki masters to learn how to access
ki and become a channel for its transmission.
Students learn basic healing patterns and the
"laying on of hands" for themselves and
others. More advanced practitioners may use
absentee healing-which involves practicing reiki
on someone from a long distance, such as a
different part of the country- or goal-oriented
healing to address specific problems. |
